Enjoy grouse over pointers or walked up days of mixed game
WL Sporting is delighted to offer walked-up shooting ranging from grouse shooting over pointers/setters to walked up mixed game of pheasant, partridge, grouse, woodcock, snipe, ducks, hare, rabbit, and pigeon.
We predominately organise walked up shooting in the Scottish Borders, from the Cheviot Hills to the Lammermuir Hills. Other locations can be arranged on request.
Our walked up shooting is extremely popular. We organise days for individual guns on roving syndicate days, as well as for single guns or full teams on exclusive days. On exclusive days we tailor the day to suit your exact requirement.
GROUSE OVER POINTERS
From mid-August onwards we arrange walked up grouse over pointers/setters. We have exceptional pointer teams on the days, and a day can have either one or a couple of dog handlers with their pointers and setters.
Depending on which location we shoot, we walk 8-10 kilometres during the course of the day, so guns need to be fit for walking. It is not a high tempo, but it is over the moor with uneven ground and sometimes a bit boggy. After a few hours, you will eat your packed lunch and then do another few hours walk up.
WALKED UP SHOOTING MIXED GAME / ROUGH SHOOTING
From September onwards we arrange walked up days of mixed game. On these days, the team of guns walks in a parallel line shooting game as it flushes from cover in front of the line. Depending on the time of year, the quarry can consist of Pheasant, Partridge, Grouse, Woodcock, Snipe, Ducks, Hare, Rabbit and Pigeon.
If joining one of our syndicate days, the made-up team will typically consist of between four and six guns. If you wish to book an exclusive day, then we will tailor the day to suit your requirements. Our mixed quarry days are with bag expectations of 10 head of game per gun.
