WL SPORTING

The West London Shooting School was established in 1901 and is still owned and run by the Richmond-Watson family. It is arguably the premiere shooting school in the UK with its simulated driven game shooting from high towers and realistic grouse butts. The style of shooting still taught at the school is the Percy Stanbury style. ”Stan” was the chief instructor for more than two decades until his retirement in 1970. His method of shooting is recognised to this day as being the most elegant and efficient of all styles. With this technique the West London Shooting School has become the favourite shooting grounds for many of shots that strive to perfect their style and performance in the field of game shooting.

After more than a century of instructing clients on clays it seemed time to assist them in finding suitable game shooting in the field. Therefore, West London Shooting School in partnership with Willie Cole and Louise Granne at Cole Shooting Services has established WL Sporting, a sporting agency with extraordinary connections to some of the finest shooting estates in the world.

Willie Cole, former instructor and manager at West London Shooting School, has spent the last ten years as Estate Manager at Ashcombe in Wiltshire running what has been described by the British magazine The Field as one of the very best high bird shoots in Britain. With over 40 years of experience in the shooting world, his client list for instruction reads like the who’s who of British aristocracy and fame. This, combined with the West London Shooting School’s reputation, has helped WL Sporting in obtaining exclusive access to shooting estates in the UK and abroad that before have never been on any sporting agency’s inventory.

Through WL Sporting an individual client or an entire team are able to be included in the elite service drawing on these estates, all of which have been previously inspected by WL Sporting team to assure that each client will have the highest standard of personal care and attention. WL Sporting will arrange a bespoke service with hosting the day, transportation, accommodation, shotguns, ammunition, loaders, instructors and other services that may be required.

WL Sporting specialise in hosting days for lady guns and young shots which are newcomers to the world of game shooting. These days are run with the assistance of West London Shooting School instructors to be both enjoyable and educational with respect to gun handling, safety, bird selection, approach to the bird, all in a safe and comfortable manner.
